Hi! I’m Hyun Hua, or Hera(Hera is easier to pronounce, so we’ll stick with that). I’m currently a junior in UCLA’s Design and Media Arts program, with a Film and Television minor.
I grew up in Singapore, where people, both peers and teachers alike, told me that pursuing any kind of art form professionally was at best, impractical, and at worst, impossible. However, I believe that anything I'm passionate enough about can be practical. My goal in life is to have the question "Can you do it?" not matter, because I love learning how to do new things.
my approach to making things is what i call bacon covered medicine, where i make something that is funny and fun, but use it to sneak in more serious themes that resonates with me and hopefully people. I have always felt like there is a pane of glass in between me and the rest of the world, and everything i make is an attempt to reach the other side of that glass.
I do not see myself as a writer, or an artist, but a storyteller. as someone who loves all kinds of storytelling mediums, i never want to limit what i can do or explore.
